Inspiration and that pesky muse #MondayRamblings from Doris (@mamaD8)

Happy Monday, folks, Doris here with some Monday Ramblings.

Inspiration is one of those funny things. It can strike at any time, and it can also disappear in a flash, or sneak away into the murky mists, never to be seen again.

I’m not usually stuck for inspiration, it has to be said, but I’m in the middle of writing what I have jokingly called the never ending story. Mainly, because this story has been and continues to be written in short bursts of inspiration where my fingers fly, and others – far more of those moments than I am happy with  – where every word is a struggle. I first started this story back in June…

Yes you read that right, June. By all rights it should have long since been finished, but my muse kept having other ideas. Lord only knows why when Stuart Reardon is my Hero inspiration! He’s Micah, paramedic and Dom, who comes to the rescue of the heroine Sandy in Taken by the Biker Dom.

You’d think my fingers would fly, wouldn’t you?

Then again, my muse also threw these heroes at me

That hunk was the inspiration for Richard in Finally His, my current release, which demanded to be written and interrupted the never-ending story.

Next to push his way in was this rather yummy inspiration in the form of Eric Rutherford….

He is Jamie, the hero in my upcoming release, On her Terms. I’ve just returned final edits for this story, and am eagerly awaiting a release date and my cover.

You see why I call Taken by the Biker Dom the never-ending story, can’t you? It currently stands at just under 50 K and there is still lots of story to tell. It’s proving to be quite an emotional journey for my H/H, so maybe that’s why my muse keeps insisting on throwing other stories at me.

I’ve been in lock down with her because she wants me to tell this hunk’s story now. He’s a bear shifter ….

Needless to say, I’ve had firm words with my muse, because as determined as she is for me to write this story, I’m just as determined to finish Micah’s and Sandie’s story. I think, I’m winning, at last….

Shhh, don’t tell her. She’s a right stroppy so and so when thwarted.

So, there, you have it. I realize you now all think I’ve completely lost the plot, which may well be true…

Hope you enjoyed the ManCandy at least. I best get on with writing that never-ending story.

Do stay naughty, folks.

Writer’s Block or simple can’t be arseditis? Monday Ramblings from Doris (@mamaD8)

Happy Monday, folks, Doris here with some ramblings. I’m pondering writer’s block today. What is it, and when do you know if you have it? That is the question.

You hear us writer types talk about it all the time, don’t you? It’s not an affliction I usually suffer from, I have to say, but at as we headed into 2016 I did wonder.

You see, pre-Christmas I had decided to take some much-needed time off over the holidays. I had a house full, as the two kids who’d flown the nest returned with their partners and of course all the usual humdrum of a busy household of nine with small children underfoot.

I enjoyed the break, didn’t miss writing one little bit in fact, which in itself is unusual, as I normally have at least one character in my head scrabbling to have his story told.

I had edits to do on two different stories, however, so that kept me busy, until the kids went back to school and I knew I had to knuckle down  and actually write something other than flashes.

What’s more I was on a deadline to get a Menage story to my editor for today, actually…

Should have been plain sailing, antho length, I knew the story, all I had to do is sit behind my keyboard and ….you know… WRITE.

That’s when my can’t be arseditis set in. You see, I’m a completely character driven Author, and I rely on the voices in my head, that dominant hero to breathe down my neck as I take dictation. In theory with the kids back at school I ought to be writing 2-3 K a day.

What was I doing instead? Playing games on Facebook, dong the *gasps* housework and when I did force myself to sit down and write, every word was like pulling teeth.

I can’t call it writer’s block, because the story was there, I just wasn’t FEELING it. As time ticked on and the most I manged to write in one session was a measly  1K I realized this just wasn’t going to happen.

The voices driving my writing just weren’t there. My muse had upped  and left for climates unknown. Boy, did I mope at being left behind. How dare she up with all the hot men and leave me behind with an empty head.

Oh, sure, I got snatches of ideas. A gazillion of different ideas, but not the urge to, you know, actually write them down.

It was only when I admitted defeat, and pulled out of that anthology, that the fog cleared. One voice stepped forward, belonging to Master Logan from The Spectrum Auctions.

It was this picture that had my muse return panting. Well, you can’t really blame her, can you David Gandy is such yummy hero material, after all.

You can read the flash I wrote for this picture here.

Now, I’m not actually sure if that scene as it stands will make it into Logan’s story, which is now called Auctioned to the Gentle Dom, but the story now stands at 18.3 K, and as I wrote 9k just over the weekend just gone, I think it’s safe to say the voices are back. 🙂

I’m aiming to have it submitted by the second week of February, and as my fingers are flying, I should manage that.

So, what was it? Writer’s block, or cannot be arseditis? I’m not sure. I think it was just trying to write the wrong story. I’m sure I’ll get back to that menage story soon, when those characters actually want to have their story told.

Auctioned to the Protective Dom, book 4 in my Spectrum series is now available on Amazon. You’ll get to meet Master Logan for the first time in this story 🙂

[Siren Classic: Erotic Consensual BDSM Romance, flogging, food play, sex toys, HEA]

It’s a Dom’s job to protect his girl.

No one believes that more than Jonas Sorenson. So when he sees the shy little sub he has been trying to get close to for ages up for auction on the Club Spectrum stage, there’s only one Dom who will get her—him.

Rissa Nauenburg hates being the center of attention, so being on show in the auction proves too much for her. Caught in the middle of a panic attack, she has no time to appreciate the fact the one Dom she has been secretively lusting after for ages has won her.

Her distress makes Jonas more determined to protect her. It’s perfectly obvious to Jonas that someone in her past has hurt Rissa badly. Under the terms of the auction she is his for twenty four hours at least.

It’s game on to rebuild Rissa’s confidence and Jonas plays for keeps.

All Rissa has to do is let him…

Stay naughty, now, folks,

Casting: One of the Many Reasons I Love My Job

When it was decided that this month’s theme for the Dirty Birdies would be about casting people to start in the films/series of our books, I knew two things:

  • This post would write itself
  • It was just an excuse to post photos of hot guys – hurrah!
So, here goes:

Author: Kristin Dos Santos from Los Angeles, California, United States

The divine Mr. Skarsgard would be Malachi, the submissive vampire in my fem-dom story, Punish Me Good, which appears in the mini-antho of the same name.

The similarities would be striking. Mainly because I wrote the story with The Skarsgard as my Muse…

Awww, come on. If there was to be a vampire knelt at your feet, could you think of a better option? 😉

Author: Eva Rinaldi

Chris Hemsworth as Thor (yes, I’m being awfully specific) would play Scott, from my fairy tale retelling Susie White and the Right Hand Man. Again, this is because I wrote the story with this slab of sexy man meat in mind, when I heard he was going to star in Snow White and the Huntsman. My pervy little mind immediately went into overdrive, and although Susie White and the Right Hand Man is far from my filthiest story (in fact, it verges more on the sensual romance side than erotic romance), it does feature a seriously hot guy. And he gets naked.

Author: Gage Skidmore

Jensen Ackles goes from Supernatural to actually being supernatural in my erotic romance, Succubus Comes Home. The hottie would play an incubus in this paranormal romance story – but basically he could play it by walking straight off the set of Supernatural – tight jeans, t-shirt, scruffy boots… you get the picture.

Author: Gage Skidmore

Ahh, and what post about totty (from me, at least) would be complete without a mention of Jared Padalecki? My beloved Jared would be cast as waiter Sam (yes, I thought real hard about that name) in my story Just Couldn’t Wait which appears in the anthology Uniform Behaviour. There was an episode of Supernatural that inspired the idea (in season four I believe when Sam’s being all bad-ass) because he was working in a bar, in a tight white t-shirt and suddenly my brain took it several steps further and made him into the Muse for a story where he’d be a waiter in a posh get up, and the female character would get to see what was under that stuffy exterior. *drools*
