Not Blocked, Just Sloooow by Lucy Felthouse (@cw1985) #writerslife

Hi folks,

Lately, I’ve been having a bout of writer’s sloooow. I think I might have just made up the name, there. Unlike writer’s block where we just stare at screens and nothing comes out, writer’s slow is where we know where we want to get to, but are struggling immensely. Yesterday I managed about 500 words, which got me to the end of a chapter. And every word felt like I was dragging it out of me and onto the page. Yes, I achieved something, but I can usually do a lot more than that!

The trouble is, I then got into bed later on and started thinking about what I was going to do with the next chapter. It was then I realised I’d made a huge screw up in the previous sloooow chapter. It’s easily fixable, I think, but then I got to wondering if perhaps that was why I was struggling so much. Did my subconscious notice my boo-boo, and make it difficult for me to move on with the story? If so, subconscious, why the hell didn’t you say something!? Keeping it inside doesn’t help me. *sigh*

Now it’s time to go back and fix the mistake, and see if I can move forward from there. Let’s hope things speed up from now on in… I want to release this book next month!

Happy Reading,

Lucy x

Being Unique by @AuthorLynnBurke #WritersLife

Being Unique!!

Every individual is just that—a person with their own thoughts, actions, and quirks. I look at my three brothers, all from the same two amazing parents as me, and they’re so different from each other you wouldn’t think they were siblings. While some mannerisms and sayings are similar from a shared childhood, they are three very different men.

Me & my brothers!!!

When writing, I believe it’s important to let who we are shine through. While I would love to write a story like Roni Loren and be what I would consider successful, using her style—her voice—would be a lie. I am not the fabulous Roni!

When we put our thoughts onto paper we are baring our souls and the voices within our heads. We all have stories to tell, ones unique to us and our thought processes and patterns. If we all told stories in the same way no one would buy books anymore.

Lets face it. We humans are fickle creatures. We like variety, the ‘greener’ grass on the other side of the road. For me, there’s nothing more thrilling than picking up a book and finding a fresh new outlook on life EVERY SINGLE TIME. Personally, I want to be challenged. I want to meet new people and make new ‘friends’, authors who speak to my senses and introduce me to the worlds found within their minds.

There’s nothing better than having close friends and family read my manuscripts and tell me they can see me—HEAR—me within the lines. Gives me that ‘woohoo!!!’ feeling.

Is it scary making ourselves so vulnerable?

Absolutely, but who doesn’t want others to like us, who we are within the deepest part of ourselves?

I may never make a million bucks with my writing, but if I make a few new friends and connect with readers, then I’ve accomplished an even greater goal.

Sharing my unique self.

Xoxo!

~Lynn

The moment you can stroke your cover

No, It’s not happened yet but it will in a couple of days.

The Furnace Man, one of my Death Isle stories written by my alter ego Kera Faire is now out in paperback as well as eBook. I am all over excited.

That one on the top. It’s weird because I adore eBooks. I love how i can take however many books I want on holiday all in something less than the size of a paperback and have room for clothes in my suitcase.  I appreciate the way I don’t get sore wrists when I’m reading a long book. I’m all over thankful i can increase the size of the font when my eyes are tired.

But… yep I do like to stroke a cover and smell that lovely new paper smell of a physical book.

And if it is one of my own stories under the shiny cover… Oh my… Time to dance.

so if you fancy meeting the Furnace Man in paperback. Here’s a couple of options
